Software wallets

Software wallets here means installable apps for phone or desktop - from an app store or a native installer. They keep the seed or keys on that device and sync faster than a full node because they usually query light clients or servers instead of verifying every block locally.

Browser sites and browser extensions are different: they live inside the browser, not as a standalone app. Those are covered under Web wallets.

Prefer wallets that are well known in the Litecoin community, open source when possible, and downloaded from the official site or a verified store. Self-custody still means you hold the backup.

Litecoin-focused apps

Nexus Wallet is the Litecoin Foundation’s official mobile wallet (MWEB, Flexa, .ltc names). It succeeds the retired Litewallet app - the old Litewallet site now redirects to Nexus; import your 12-word seed there if you still use that backup. Electrum-LTC is the classic power-user desktop client. Cake Wallet fits mobile Litecoin with privacy-oriented flows.

Ordinals-aware (Bitcoin reference)

Sparrow is a popular Bitcoin desktop wallet with strong Ordinals / Runes tooling. It does not manage Litecoin inscriptions - for LTC use Litescribe. Listed here as the usual Ordinals-aware desktop reference alongside UniSat on the web page.

Multi-asset apps

Multi-asset apps are convenient if you already hold several coins in one place. The trade-off is breadth over Litecoin-specific depth compared with Nexus, Electrum-LTC, or Litecoin Core. Brands that also offer a browser add-on are listed again under Web wallets.

How to choose

Whatever you pick, write down the recovery phrase offline, confirm you can restore it, and keep only what you need to spend on a hot device.
